About Temperature Measurements
The temperature of an oven is a critical factor in baking. The temperature is usually set in either Celsius or Fahrenheit. Gas mark is a common temperature measurement in the UK and Ireland.
Celsius
Celsius is the most common temperature scale used in the world. It is based on the freezing point of water (0°C) and the boiling point of water (100°C).
Farenheit
Farenheit is a temperature scale used in the United States. It is based on the freezing point of water (32°F) and the boiling point of water (212°F).
Gas Mark
Gas mark is a temperature scale used on gas ovens and cookers. This temperature scale is based on the volume of gas consumed by the oven.
Kelvin
Kelvin is the base unit of temperature in the International System of Units (SI). It is based on the absolute zero point of temperature. Absolute zero is the coldest temperature possible and is 0 Kelvin.
