Honey is a natural liquid sweetener produced by bees from flower nectar. Dense and viscous, 1 cup (250 ml) of honey weighs around 340 grams — roughly 40% heavier than the same volume of water. Its thick consistency makes weight measurements far more reliable than estimating by volume in a sticky measuring cup.

Baking recipes frequently list honey by tablespoons or grams rather than cups. One tablespoon of honey weighs about 20 grams, so a kitchen scale is the easiest way to hit the right amount without the mess.
